| Edgar Lavarello
Edgar graduated from Loughborough University with a joint honours degree in
Economics and Accountancy in 1985. He qualified in the City of London as a
Chartered Accountant where he spent some five years specialising in the
insurance sector. He joined PricewaterhouseCoopers, Gibraltar in 1990 and is
currently a partner specialising in a variety of businesses, including
financial services and insurance companies, as well as in a number of
disciplines including audit, tax and insolvency. He is a fellow of the
Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.
He is currently Vice President of the Gibraltar Society of Chartered and
Certified Accountancy Bodies and is a representative of the local accountancy
profession’s taxation committee. He has served on a number of Gibraltar
Government Authorities including as financial advisor to the Gibraltar Health
Authority for the construction of the new hospital and has recently been
appointed to the Gibraltar Port Authority.
Between 1995 and 1999 Edgar served as the treasurer of the Gibraltar Society
of Chartered and Certified Accountancy Bodies. Edgar is also a keen sailor and
since 1990 has served as treasurer of the Royal Gibraltar Yacht Club which was
founded in 1829 and is the oldest Yacht Club outside the United Kingdom.
